PE and Sports Premium Funding
The PE and Sport Premium Funding is part of a government initiative designed to help primary schools improve the quality of the PE and sport activities they offer their pupils so that they develop healthy lifestyles.
At Caldecott School, we recognise the huge contribution PE and sport plays in the health and well-being of our children. We believe that a varied PE curriculum and a range of extra-curricular opportunities have a positive influence on the concentration, attitude and academic achievement of all our children. Furthermore, we believe that increased opportunities for competitive sport enables children to develop excellence in sport as well as leadership skills, teamwork, dedication and self-esteem.
Across the academic year, we participate in a wide range of interschool competitions at local, area and county level. These include Boccia, cricket, cross country, football, netball, swimming, tennis and Quad Kids. We have won trophies in Boccia, cross country, football, tennis and Quad Kids and have reached the Abingdon and Oxfordshire finals in several events.
As well as interschool competitions, we offer many intraschool competitions too. Each child is a member of a house team, and we deliver termly house competitions so that every child from KS1 to KS2 can compete for their team in a competitive and supportive environment.
This year, we are delighted to have been awarded the Gold School Games Mark once again. This is a wonderful achievement and highlights our commitment to high quality provision for PE and sports at Caldecott School.
Please see the reports below detailing how we have used our sports funding, the impact it has had on the children and how this improvement will be sustained.
