The PE and Sports Premium Funding is part of a government initiative designed to help primary schools improve the quality of the PE and sport activities they offer their pupils so that they develop healthy lifestyles. Every state primary school in the country has been provided with funding to support additional sports provision.
At Caldecott, we recognise the huge contribution PE and sport plays in the health and well-being of our children. We believe that a varied PE curriculum and a range of extra-curricular opportunities have a positive influence on the concentration, attitude and academic achievement of all of our children. Furthermore, we believe that increased opportunities for competitive sport enables children to develop excellence in sport as well as leadership skills, teamwork, dedication and self esteem.
We were delighted to have been awarded the Gold School Games Mark for the academic year 2022/23; a fantastic achievement that highlights our dedication in providing the very best for all our children. We hope to achieve this standard once again for the 2023/24 academic year.
The 2023-24 funding allowed Caldecott to introduce new sports and activities into the curriculum as well as funding residential trips in Y4, Y5 and Y6. This enabled more children to access different sports including archery, fencing, caving, surfing and paddleboarding, as well as providing leadership opportunities at all levels.
Please see the reports below detailing how we have used our sports funding and the impact it has had on the children.
