Keeping In Touch- Update 30th March
We have set up a new email address as follows: Homework@caldecott.oxon.sch.uk. Please use this address to send photographs or attachments of any work that your child would like us to see. Whilst it is not possible for us to formally mark work during this difficult period, we would be delighted to see what the children have been doing and to share in their successes and discoveries. It may also be possible to provide a small level of feedback should you have a specific query that cannot wait for your weekly phone call review.

 Dear Parents/Carers,

Listed below are some useful website links and documents to help your child with their learning while they are off school. The children will also have a pack to take home on Friday or it will be delivered to you if your child is absent this week. The pack will include a suggested timetable to help you structure your day. Teachers will be phoning once a week to check how you and your family are getting on, the number will either show up as the school's number or it will be unknown.

NEW: There is a new email address available for parents to contact teachers regarding work their children have done and may want to share, or to ask for information on learning. We will aim to reply within 48 hours. Homework@caldecott.oxon.sch.uk

Suggested Year 1 timetable & learning links

'YouTube Kids' is an app you can download on Apple devices that is safe for children to use. It has lots of educational videos for children to watch. Our topic this term has been the Three Little Pigs so the children could see if they can find the story and retell it.

Welcome to Swallows Class!

Our class teacher is Miss Riach.

In term one, we will be carrying on with the exciting topic that many of the children will have begun in their foundation stage classes last term: Sharing a Shell. This will enable the children to explore the story in more detail and to share in a range of activities while getting to know our class and routines. Future topics will then include The Three Little Pigs – a much loved story that offers excellent learning opportunities.

Our main aim in Swallows is for the children to be creative and engaged in a supportive environment where we look after one another. In order that we can be successful and achieve our very best, the 5 ‘R’ values are important to us:

Respect

Resilience

Resourcefulness

Reflection

Responsibility

P.E. takes place twice weekly. Please ensure that your child has their P.E. kit with them in school at all times – this encourages the children to be responsible for their belongings and avoids kit becoming lost between school and home. We will also visit the library once a week where the children can choose a new book to borrow.

In Year 1, the children will be provided with reading journals. These need to be signed by an adult at least 5 times per week and brought into school on Mondays. However, books can be changed at any time throughout the week.

We are very excited about the year ahead! Please do not hesitate to ask if you have any questions or queries.

Many thanks,
